Bicyclists - if you come to the trail head of the Airline Trail in E Hampton and are in need of a delicious refueling, head into the village. Higher Grounds has savory homemade soups and much more in a warm and cozy setting. They are very welcoming to bikers. The village is not well marked at the trailhead. Just find the path across the street from the parking lot. Take a right at the end. Higher Grounds is the next block on the left right after a bakery and ice cream shop! The whole little village is a treasure.
I have lived nearby to this coffee shop for about three years and have been consistently happy every time I grab food here. The food is always delicious and freshly made, with lots of unique options available each day, such as homemade falafel and pumpkin chili. The baked good are always amazing and there are often gluten free options, endless cupcake flavor combinations, as well as less commonly seen treats, such as lavender shortbread cookies. The owner is very personable, and I like that she recognizes people who come in often... she even had free flowers for moms this Mother's Day, and my mom was given one even though we ultimately didn't end up purchasing anything! There is a lot of artwork featured on the walls, often for sale, and various other crafts by local artisans, such as honey, maple syrup products, pottery and jewelry. I personally have never attended one of the open mic nights, but living nearby, I see that they are always packed and obviously a very popular event. It is extremely nice to have a place in town that is not a chain restaurant, where you feel like you are contributing to the local scene and neighborhood when you shop or eat there. I always encourage people to visit the coffee shop and have not had any of my guests be disappointed yet when visiting!
I love this place. It's got such a nice atmosphere, kind of funky and artsy. It's great that the owner seems dedicated to helping local artists show their work. My favorite part though is definitely the amazing baked goods! Whenever I come in with my kids we get the most delish cookies, cupcakes, or brownies. This place is a great addition to East Hampton.
This is a great coffee shop and also serves nummy home made soup, sanwiches & desserts. free wi-fi & art gallery featuring local artisits is also included. They have open mike nights & local entertainment - what a great addition to the area! A very nice way to support a local business!
Great food and bakery type stuff, nice people, cool atmosphere, terrible coffee
